Bridal FAQ’s

Why is it important to hire a Professional Makeup Artist for my Wedding?

There are several reasons to hire a professional makeup artist but the big reason would be the amount of knowledge and experience MUA’s have. Ever since I started doing makeup professionally in 2017 I have spent a very significant amount of time and money training under other professionals in my field, educating myself, practicing, and perfecting my craft. Professional MUA’s have the knowledge and right tools to make you look and feel your most beautiful. As the Bride, you will want everything to be as perfect and stress free as possible. All eyes will be on you, and you will look back on your wedding pictures for the rest of your life. So it is super important to hire a beauty professional that you love and trust!

How soon should I book my hair and makeup artist?

ASAP! We book on a first come first serve basis, and we receive new requests for Wedding availability each day it is sometimes hard to keep up. The sooner you lock your date in, the better.

What is the process to book you?

First, completely read and fill over my Wedding Contract. Once I receive it back completely signed, I will send you an invoice for the non-refundable retainer. Once that is paid and I have the completed contract in hand, I will send you my signed portion of the contract and I will block out your date on my booking site. I will send another invoice for the remaining balance 14 days before your Wedding Date.

How long does it take for you to do makeup?

I can typically get all bridesmaids and wedding party members done in 45 minutes or less. Even though bridaI makeup doesn’t take an hour and a half for the application, I like to allot an hour and a half for the Bride because she is usually the one being asked 100 questions, making phone calls, scarfing down food and drinks, and being pulled to look at things. There are lots of interruptions and I try to take those into consideration!

What is the difference between airbrush and traditional makeup?

While there are several differences, the main difference is how it is applied. Instead of applying the makeup with brushes or sponges, the makeup is sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush gun, compressor, and…air! Airbrush makeup lasts longer than traditional makeup, it’s more water resistant (a MUST in this NC heat!), transfer resistant, it’s more lightweight, and it gives you that, “Instagram filter” look in real life. It also photographs beautifully!

Why is Bridal makeup more expensive?

More time is spent on the Bride to ensure every detail is perfect, I have several luxury products I will not use on anyone else but the Bride, and each Bride will receive a complimentary touch-up kit full of small items such as tissues, q-tips, translucent powder, oil blotting sheet, mints, a thank you card, a single makeup remover, sponges, and an empty lip gloss container I will put your lipstick in. Not to mention my experience level, education, up to date infection control, the hours I spend cleaning/ prepping my kit, showing up on time, etc. I genuinely want you to have the best getting ready experience and I work hard to make that happen!

How long will the makeup last?

I will be sure each client is fully prepped, set, and locked and loaded by the time we get done. I will usually plan 10 minute of touch ups right before I leave that way everyone is good to go. As long as no one plans on jumping into a pool of water, or aggressively rubbing your face, it should last until you are ready to take it off 🙂

Can I opt out of wearing false eyelashes?

Absolutely! However unless your eyes are super sensitive or you have an allergy, I would advise against it. They make such a big difference, especially in pictures, and they complete a makeup look in my professional opinion. For those who are hesitant to wearing falsies, I usually encourage the client to at least try them on since they’re included anyway, and if they hate them we will remove them. 9 times out of 10 the client ends up loving them and decides to keeps them on 🙂
